10 BEST ASMR TRIGGERS

Hello ASMR lovers!

Last week I gave you some tips for becoming a great ASMR artist. (If you still haven’t seen it, go check it out How to become an asmr artist). Today, I come back to introduce you to my favorite triggers, which are mostly those of the public watching the videos. I invite you, then, to rely mainly on these triggers if you decide to get started! Otherwise, for those who are only spectators, this can give you new ideas of videos to watch.

Whispering

Whispering is the most presented ASMR trigger in ASMR videos and the best known. Some ASMR artists speak softly rather than whisper. Soft talking is like speaking with a soft or gentle voice. Sometimes, certain words or sounds are highlighted or repeated because of their particularly relaxing effect. ASMR Tapping This trigger can include typing on various surfaces with long nails or with fingertips for a softer sound. ASMR artists become really creative with the surfaces they use to vary the different sounds that can be made by typing. It can be fast tapping or slow-typing.
Physical touch ASMR
Most ASMR videos have a certain type of physical touch. If you've ever felt relaxed while getting a haircut, or a simple doctor's exam, you may have known about this ASMR trigger. The most common use of physical touch in ASMR videos includes game simulation of hair or face touching.
Page turning
Some ASMR videos feature someone reading a book. This highlights the sounds made when turning the pages of a book, or when touching the cover.  Reading is a basic relaxing activity and watching and listening to someone else do so can cause real ASMR triggers.
Visual ASMR/Hand movements
ASMR is not just about sound. Some ASMR videos highlight someone who moves his hands in front of the camera, making rather gentle gestures.
ASMR Roleplay
Many ASMR videos present the artist who plays different scenarios such as a haircut, a medical visit or even a make-up done by a professional. This makes spectators feel more unique when watching one of these videos
Eating/ Mouth Sound
This trigger is not everyone's favorite. Indeed, many people are disgusted by mouth sounds and yet it can be a trigger for some.  Artists can eat, taste or chew gum. The associated sounds are intense triggers.
ASMR Massage
Massages are the ultimate activity that relaxes. Even if you can't afford one on yourself, it can be relaxing to watch someone else give or receive a massage. It is a trigger that combines personal attention, physical touch, and gentle speech.
Crinkling
This trigger involves crinkling a variety of materials, including plastic wrappers, aluminum foil, or bubble wrap. It must stay gentle so that it doesn’t wake people.
Trigger words
Most of the time the trigger words are pronounced while doing other ASMR triggers like tapping and scratching for example. A word can include clicking, mouth sounds, and many more triggers, just by pronouncing certain words. Don't forget to tell me what you think in the comments.
