What is ASMR?
ASMR, this new fashionable relaxation technique
We have all experienced this situation. Those nights when you can't sleep. Anguished, stressed, restless. Our lifestyle has a huge impact on our sleep and prevents us from resting properly. In these unpleasant situations, we would like to have a quick fix to relax. There are several solutions such as relaxing music, meditation or ASMR (Autonomous sensory meridian response) which helps to relax.
What is ASMR?
What are the effects of ASMR?
It is a term that describes a distinct, pleasant and non-sexual sensation in the skull, scalp or even along the back. People who are sensitive to this phenomenon often describe it as a cerebral orgasm allowing a level of total relaxation.
This concept may seem strange, but millions of viewers on YouTube use the ASMR with several million videos on ASMR. With several million videos on ASMR available on Youtube, it becomes necessary to enlighten us on this discipline.
How to listen to ASMR?
According to neurologist Pierre Lemarquis, "not everyone is receptive to this kind of stimuli. It is a phenomenon that is akin to suggestion, as in hypnosis, which implies an ability to let go, to dream and to develop one's imagination."
For my part, I think that ASMR can have a real effect if the person is in a position to let go without prejudice on this new technique. In addition, in order to be sure to feel the relaxing effects of ASMR it is better to follow some tips:
- Be in an environment conducive to calm and relaxation by lying or sitting.
- Wear headphones.
- Preferable to be in a rather dark room.
- Lower the brightness of your smartphone or computer.
These tips allow you to be totally tuned to the artist ASMR and to be able to focus on the visual and sound.
There are not many drawbacks to trying. If this doesn't work for you, ASMR will just be one more noise in your headphones. But if it works, get ready for many hours spent on Youtube!
See you soon whisperers!
